About Contemporary Front

Contemporary Front is a Chicago-based platform exploring contemporary art and music through interviews, exhibition reviews, artist profiles, and critical perspectives. We bring fresh voices and bold ideas into focus, connecting artists, audiences, and creative communities across cultures.

Our roots date to January 2021 with the founding of Avant-Garde Sisters, which later became Avant-Garde Art Projects (先锋艺术项目), a Chinese-language column on Artron Art Express (雅昌艺术头条).

​

Contemporary Front builds on this foundation with a broader editorial focus on art, music, and cross-disciplinary conversations. Together with 先锋艺术项目, we foster dialogue across Chinese- and English-speaking cultural communities, creating space for thoughtful criticism, discovery, and exchange.

Open Call: Artist Interviews

We welcome submissions from emerging and mid-career artists working across all media. Selected artists will be invited for an interview exploring their work, ideas, and creative practice, to be published on Contemporary Front.
